Scubadiving

I really enjoy scubadiving.  I first because certified in 2009 before a trip to Mexico.  I went with my girlfriend but she does not scubadive so I had to go with an insstructor.  Supposedly the Mayan Riviera is supposed to have the 2nd best coral reef for scubadiving.  During my trip I had to dive for a total of 16 hours in order to become certified in open waters.  It was amazing.  The visibility was insane.  Then in Februray 2010 I went to Bahamas and dived.  It was not as nice as Mexico.  I only dove for 8 hours on this trip.  It was nice but not nearly as nice as Mexico.  I did however see a hammer head shark.  The diving instructor said he had never seen one in all of his years.  For 2011 I am looking for a new vacation.  My girlfriend wants to go to Costa Rica but I do not know much about it.  Does anyone out there have any advice on scubadiving in Costa Rica?  Any insights are appreciated!

  1. Hi there,

I would love to scuba dive but I am too chicken ahahhaha Maybe someday though....ever see anything scary down there! If you are near York, Maine, you might want to give surfing a try. It has gotten very popular in both Short Sands and Long Sands, which are the names of the beaches. The reason why I thought of it is because they wear scuba outfits even in the winter. They are out there in the worst weather and loving every minute of it. My parents live on Nubble Lighthouse area and they dive there if you ever get up that way. Looks like they really enjoy that as well.

  2. I would love to scuba dive too! I snorkle but it always seems so far away from the fish that swim on the bottom. Scott, have you thought of going to Hawaii to dive? I'm not sure about the diving but the snorkeling there is unbelievable!
